Cincinnati Machine-Sponsored "BattleBots"
Can Be Seen at IMTS 2002!
As proud sponsor of Team Mutant Robots from the popular television show BattleBots, Cincinnati Machine will display robots Diesector and Tazbot at IMTS 2002 Booth A-8101 in Chicago, IL. In addition, the machine tool manufacturer has scheduled a meet-and-greet session on September 7 with the robot builder and operator, Donald Hutson.
Team Mutant Robots, based in San Diego, California, is one of the leading competitors featured on the highly successful Comedy Central television show. The cable networks third highest rated program, which reaches nearly two million viewers a week in 4 different countries, pits intricate combat robots against one another in an arena full of destructive hazards until only one robot remains functional.
Cincinnati Machine recognized this new sport as a great vehicle to showcase their equipment. We see this as a new and exciting way to put the Cincinnati Machine name in front of an intelligent, technically-oriented audience, says Kevin V.G. Bevan, vice president and general manager of Cincinnati Machines Value Machine Business. Demographically, the audience is a key target market for our products.
The leader of Team Mutant Robots, medical engineer Donald Hutson, is one of the most innovative, experienced builders featured on BattleBots. Tazbot and Diesector, the two robots that Hutson designed and built, are some of the most recognizable machines on the show. Both robots have finished at the top of their respective weight classes for the past few seasons.
As part of the sponsorship agreement, the Team Mutant Robots wears Cincinnati Machine shirts while competing with the robots on TV. In addition, the battling robots each feature a large, visible Cincinnati Machine logo. The machine tool manufacturer also machines parts and weapons for the robots, such as hammers and bumper guards, in order that they are more competitive in the infamous BattleBox arena. |
