Kansas-Oklahoma Machine Tools Earns 2002 Distributor of the Year
The first Distributor of the Year Award from Cincinnati Machine's Value Machine Business (VMB) division, recognizing exceptional distributor performance in key sales and service areas, has been presented to Kansas-Oklahoma Machine Tools, Inc. (KOMT).
KOMT, which provides machine tool sales and service in Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and southern Illinois, was founded in 1962 and has been a Cincinnati Machine distributor since 1994. In addition to the Wichita headquarters, it has offices in Tulsa, Kansas City, Oklahoma City and St. Louis.
To earn the award, the Cincinnati Machine VMB distributors across the country were evaluated on several significant performance areas, such as overall customer satisfaction, increasing market share, how closely forecasts were met, attendance at VMB sales and service classes and technology seminars, and lead follow-up.
KOMT President Bill Farris said the Distributor of the Year is highly prestigious and that KOMT was honored to receive it. "But actually, to earn this award, we didn't do anything different from what we normally do," he continued. "We committed to this business and committed to doing what is right for our customers and manufacturers. From that, the cards just fell into place."
Prior to being named Distributor of the Year, KOMT was awarded the Cincinnati Machine 2001 Service Shield award. The award recognizes exemplary distributor performance in several key service areas.
"The performance criteria are the ones we feel are the most important to our customer service program," said Jim Spearman, Cincinnati Machine VMB national sales and service manager. "They are performance areas that we encourage our distributors to continually improve to help us achieve our goal of providing the best-in-class, after-sales support."
Farris said that much of the credit goes to the company's service technicians. "The entire service staff is very knowledgeable and competent. They are sincerely concerned that a customer's service problem is solved quickly," he said. "That is the key to our success."
Though the 2001 Service Shield was a significant factor in KOMT receiving the Distributor of the Year award for 2002, Cincinnati Machine evaluated performance in a variety of areas to determine the recipient.
Rick Kaiser, national distributor manager for Cincinnati Machine VMB, said, "The performance criteria that we evaluate for the Distributor of the Year award is directly related to customer satisfaction. The criteria represents the key areas that we constantly urge distributors to improve to help Cincinnati Machine achieve our goal of offering best-in-class products with the best after-sale support to customers."
Distributors competed intensely for the award and the differences between them in the evaluations were very close, Kaiser continued. "Their focus on improving sales volume and service performance is a clear and direct benefit to both our customers and Cincinnati Machine."
The Distributor of the Year award will be presented annually at the Cincinnati Machine distributor council meeting held in the first quarter each year. |
